The Barristers' Association of Philadelphia held a professional networking mixer at its January General Body Meeting at Greenberg Traurig.
Leadership from the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania, Brandeis, Brehons, the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania, Justinians, the National Association of Black Accountants Philadelphia, the National Association Of Health Service Executives, the women lawyers division of the National Bar Association, the National Black MBA Association-Philadelphia, the National Society of Black Engineers, the National Sales Network, and the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association attended.
|Elected and Appointed
Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads announced that Ernest D. Holtzheimer was elected vice chair of both the business law section and the young lawyers division of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Holtzheimer formerly served as the secretary and treasurer of the business law section and treasurer of the YLD.
Holtzheimer is a member of the firm's business department and is co-chair of the private capital and emerging companies practice group.
Holtzheimer concentrates his practice in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and general corporate matters.
He counsels clients in a variety of industries with respect to their general operations, structure, governance and in connection with complex transactions.
As a member of the emerging business and venture capital community, Holtzheimer serves on advisory boards for an institutional venture fund and an international angel investment group.
He writes and speaks on topics such as planning profitable exit strategies and obtaining angel and venture capital financing for early-stage companies.
Holtzheimer also serves as an editor of Montgomery McCracken's private business counsel blog.
In addition, he is a member of the firm's diversity committee.
Holtzheimer received his Juris Doctor from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

Saxton & Stump attorney Erik M. Hume published the 2020 supplemental update to "Pennsylvania Community Association & Law Practice," a reference guide for attorneys, real estate professionals, developers and associations.
Hume will continue to publish annual supplemental updates with information regarding changes to common interest ownership community law in Pennsylvania.
The original author of the work, Ronald B. Glazer, piloted the publication for 40 years.
The treatise provides individuals who work with common interest ownership communities in Pennsylvania with a comprehensive legal reference and practice guide.
In addition to the discussion and analysis of cases of relevant law, the publication includes forms and checklists that can be used for daily use and reference.
Hume is the chair of Saxton & Stump's real estate group.
He is also chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's real property, probate and trust section. In his real estate practice, Hume handles a variety of matters, including commercial and residential real estate transactions, land development, commercial loan origination and counseling of clients on condominium and planned community matters.
He has experience with complex real estate development projects, including the negotiation of agreements of sale, coordinating due diligence, obtaining entitlements and managing the closing process.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
