A Pennsylvania woman has sued online retail giant Amazon, alleging the company improperly fired her after she suffered a workplace injury.

The plaintiff Naimah Jones sued Amazon on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, claiming the company retaliated against her after a doctor placed her on light duty.

According to the complaint, which was filed by Pond Lehocky attorney Erica Shikunov, Jones worked as a "stower" for the company, which meant she organized packages and placed them on shelves. After less than six months on the job, she pulled her back out, and was subsequently recommended to a physician, who restricted her to light duty.

However, according to the complaint, Jones was reassigned to a position that would have still required her to lift heavy packages, and, after allegedly experiencing excruciating pain trying to handle the work load, she told her supervisors she could not continue in the position. She was allegedly fired shortly after.

According to the docket, Amazon has not yet retained counsel in the case.
