Pond Lehocky Giordano LLP associates Ashleigh Quinn Gallagher and Raphael Castro are slated to speak at the Feb. 12 member meeting for Laborers Local 57.

Gallagher will discuss what union members should know about their rights to Social Security disability benefits.

Castro will talk about what they should know regarding workers' compensation.

Laborers' Local 57 is affiliated with the Laborers' International Union of North America.

It is one of four locals that comprise the Laborers' District Council of Philadelphia and vicinity.

The union represents infrastructure, utility and other construction workers. Gallagher is a senior associate at Pond Lehocky, focusing her practice on workers' compensation and Social Security disability.

Before joining Pond Lehocky, Gallagher worked as a legal intern with the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 19 through the Peggy Browning Fellowship Program, counseling members about a variety of legal issues and participating in collective bargaining negotiations.

Castro joined Pond Lehocky in 2017, concentrating his practice on helping injured and disabled workers.

Prior to that, he worked as an assistant district attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, litigating both violent and property crime.

He served as a law clerk for President Judge Sheila Woods-Skipper of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Honored

Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock Dodig announced that co-founding shareholder Alan M. Feldman is set to be honored Feb. 11 by the American Jewish Committee Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey with its Judge Learned Hand Award.

AJC Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey presents the Judge Learned Hand Award annually in recognition of members of the Philadelphia legal community who distinguish themselves through professional achievement and community leadership.

Judge Learned Hand was a senior judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1924 to 1951.

Feldman helps victims of unsafe cars and trucks, sexual abuse and defective products, with a particular focus on products intended for children and infants.

Feldman is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

He is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, which is limited to 500 active lawyers throughout the world, and is a past president of The Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.

As chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2006, Feldman created the "Raising the Bar" campaign, which helped raise millions of dollars from Philadelphia law firms to provide free legal services to those in need.

In 2013, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to serve on the Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts board, which supports legal services agencies throughout the commonwealth.

He served as vice chair of the IOLTA board until completing his term in November of 2019.

A frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs for other attorneys, Feldman also served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law, published materials for more than 60 trial skills programs and co-authored a textbook on premises liability law.

Additions

Attorney Robert T. Sing joined the law firm of Duffy + Fulginiti.

He will focus his practice on all areas of personal and catastrophic injury on behalf of plaintiffs.

A former law school intern at the practice, Sing performed case preparation and research for some of Duffy + Fulginiti's recoveries.

Prior to interning for Duffy + Fulginiti, Sing worked for another private law firm, assisting in workers' compensation, divorce/custody and personal injury cases.

Sing is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the Philadelphia Bar Association.

He is also a lifetime member of the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society.
