Joel A. Rose, the president of Joel A. Rose & Associates and a contributing writer for The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly, died Feb. 13.

Rose, a certified management consultant, spent 33 years at Joel A. Rose & Associates, a legal profession-focused management consulting firm. He provided consulting to private law firms and government agencies on law firm management and organization, strategic and financial planning, lawyer compensation, mergers and acquisitions, and legal services marketing. His work also involved resolving disputes between lawyers.

In addition to writing for The Legal and the Law Weekly, Rose also wrote articles for Legal affiliates the New Jersey Law Journal and the New York Law Journal. His writing experience also included co-authoring the New York State Bar Association-published book "Model Partnership Agreements for New York Law Firms" and writing chapters for various other legal publications.

Outside of his firm, Rose was on the board of editors of the Accounting and Financial Planning for Law Firms and Law Firm Partnership and Benefits Report and a member of the law practice committee in both the American Bar Association and the NYSBA. He was also a fellow in the College of Law Practice Management.

Rose founded Joel A. Rose & Associates after serving as vice president at Cantor & Co., a legal management consulting firm where he worked for 21 years.

Rose received a Masters of Business Administration in industrial management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife, Dori Rose; his children, Susan Ferguson and Terri Angstreich; and his grandchildren, Ellie Angstreich and Jake Angstreich.

A funeral for Rose was held Feb. 16 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
