As part of the firm's celebration of the MLK Day of Service, more than 100 Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath volunteers in Philadelphia assembled care packages for Covenant House Pennsylvania.
The organization helps teenagers and adolescents turn homelessness into an opportunity for growth.
Faegre Drinker's Philadelphia office leader Dan Aiken and chief diversity officer Maria Lewis delivered the more than 150 care packages to Covenant House Pennsylvania.
Speakers
Michael Mills, a partner of the law firm of Antheil Maslow & MacMinn in Doylestown, and Elaine Yandrisevits, both of the firm's estates and trusts practice group, presented an estate planning update at the Bucks County Bar Association.
The program focused on recent legislation passed in December 2019 known as the SECURE Act.
The CLE addressed how the SECURE Act affects the treatment of retirement account beneficiaries, including benefits left in trusts.
Mills focuses on estates and trusts, taxation and corporate practice areas.
Yandrisevits practices exclusively in estates and trusts.
Both are frequent speakers on estate and tax planning for continuing legal education and community organizations.

Betsy G. Ramos of Capehart Scatchard is set to present on insurance fraud from 4 to 5:30 p.m. March 3.
Ramos will discuss the Insurance Fraud Prevention Act, legal fraud, equitable fraud and material misrepresentation.
Additionally, she will address what should be done if fraud is suspected.
The event will be held at Capehart Scatchard in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. It is approved for 1.8 New Jersey credits and 1.5 Pennsylvania credits.

James W. Cushing, senior associate at the Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen, is slated to lead the 20th "American Judicial System" seminar March 3 at Bucks County Technical High School to give social studies students an inside look at the judicial branch of government.
Cushing is managing attorney for Legal Research Inc. and sits on the executive committee of the family section of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
He practices family law, unemployment compensation, real estate and contract law.

Weber will be part of the firm's litigation practice group and health care industry group.
He started his private practice legal career as a litigator in 2012.
Weber graduated from Penn State Dickinson Law in 2011.
He is on the board of directors of the Lancaster Bar Association and is currently the organization's chair of the young lawyers section.
He is also part of the Pennsylvania Bar Association health law committee, on which he serves as the committee's young lawyers division liaison.
He is also a member of the Lancaster Young Professionals, the American Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
