Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice David Wecht has self-quarantined after a family member tested presumptively positive for COVID-19, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts has announced.

The AOPC's statement, released late Tuesday, said Wecht was notified Monday that one of his children tested presumptively positive for the illness after returning from overseas studies. Following the notification, Wecht, along with his family, decided to self-quarantine, based on medical advice.

The announcement comes one day after the Supreme Court declared a statewide judicial emergency in Pennsylvania, as courts across the state have been grappling with how to continue providing services, while helping to combat the spread of the virus. Many, including courts in Philadelphia and Montgomery County, have chosen to suspend jury trials for several weeks.
