Fox Rothschild announced that it appointed new leadership to several of its departments, practice groups and offices.
Seven Pennsylvania attorneys were among the promotions.
Catherine T. Barbieri now serves as co-chair of the firm's labor and employment department. Barbieri represents corporations in high-level, employment-related litigation in both state and federal courts nationwide.
She advises companies, family-owned businesses, law firms, universities and nonprofit organizations about strategies for navigating complex employment and discrimination issues.
She has experience in a range of employment matters, including discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination suits, restrictive covenant litigation, wage and hour compliance, whistleblower matters and counseling and litigation avoidance.
Brett A. Berman now serves as co-chair of Fox Rothchild's litigation department.
He advises clients on a variety of commercial and business litigation matters.
In addition to handling business litigation, he represents his clients in multimillion-dollar cases related to shareholder disputes and construction and real estate litigation.
Additionally, he represents architects and engineers in complex litigation matters and handles various litigation matters involving intellectual property.
Robert W. Gundlach Jr. now serves as co-chair of the real estate department.
His practice areas include transactional and zoning/land use work.
He also counsels businesses on a variety of legal-related matters.
In addition to his new position, he is co-chair of the firm's zoning and land use group.
Matthew D. Lee now serves as co-chair of the white-collar criminal defense and regulatory compliance practice group.
Lee is a former U.S. Department of Justice trial attorney who focuses his practice in the areas of white-collar criminal defense and investigations, federal tax controversies, financial institution regulatory compliance and complex civil litigation.
He represents companies and individuals in federal grand jury investigations and criminal prosecutions in a variety of areas.
He also litigates federal and state civil asset forfeiture matters.
Lee has experience conducting internal investigations and advising companies and boards as to whether to self-disclose suspected wrongdoing to law enforcement.
John B. Gessner was appointed to serve as co-chair of the hospitality practice group.
Gessner is a corporate lawyer who provides legal guidance to growth-stage businesses, primarily in the food and beverage and hospitality sectors.
He advises clients on business operations and strategic planning, corporate formation and governance, employment and human resources, financing, franchising, liquor law issues and licensing, litigation, real estate and leasing and restructuring.
John J. Haggerty assumed the role of managing partner in the firm's Warrington office. Haggerty focuses his practice on complex commercial, class action, insurance, products liability, mass tort and software litigation matters for major corporations and professional athletes in state and federal courts throughout the country.
He also serves as co-chair of the firm's class actions group and is the former co-chair of the firm's litigation department.

Following the firm's first-ever Facebook Live program on World Health Day, Pond Lehocky Giordano LLP managing partner Sam Pond is slated to host another Facebook Live Q&A. A former president of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, he served for six years as treasurer of that organization's committee for a better tomorrow.
He is also the chairman of the Pennsylvania Alliance.
He previously served in leadership roles for organizations including chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association workers' compensation section and member of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
