Havertown attorney Daniel J. Siegel, principal of the Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel, was appointed as chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association committee on legal ethics and professional responsibility, which provides ethical guidance to lawyers in Pennsylvania and global ethics advice to attorneys throughout the country.

Siegel has experience handling matters at the intersection of technology and legal ethics.

He began serving as a member of the committee more than 30 years ago and is the principal author of several ethical guidance opinions, including "Ethical Obligations for Lawyers Working Remotely," which was issued in April 2020 to provide guidance to attorneys throughout the country about how to handle their practices during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel is a regional general practice law firm, and Siegel focuses his practice on workers' compensation, personal injury, ethics, techno-ethics and professional responsibility, and appellate writing.

He received his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1984.

He is the elected Fourth Ward commissioner in Haverford Township.

John F. Alcorn, a member of the law firm Ferraro Kruk & Ferraro in Brockway and a former Pennsylvania Department of State chief hearing examiner, is set to begin a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association board of governors.

One of 12 PBA zone governors, Alcorn will represent Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Venango and Warren county lawyers.

Alcorn began serving as a voting member in the PBA House of Delegates in 2008.

He served on the House of Delegates draft committee from 2015 to 2017.

Since 2016, Alcorn served as a member of investigative panels of the PBA judicial evaluation commission, which helps evaluate candidates seeking to fill vacancies on Pennsylvania's commonwealth, superior and supreme courts.

He began serving as a member of the PBA government lawyers committee in 1999.

Also active in the local organized bar, Alcorn is a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association.

Alcorn holds a degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University.

Barley Snyder announced that attorney David Walker was named to the board of directors at Court Appointed Special Advocates of Lancaster County.

CASA received its first case in 2010 and continues to work to ensure that every child of the county that is abused and neglected will have a safe, permanent home and the support to become a healthy, empowered adult.

Walker follows Barley Snyder partner Scott Landis as a member of the organization's board. Landis is a former president of the CASA of Lancaster County board.

In 2017, CASA named Barley Snyder the recipient of one of its biggest annual awards, "Heroes in the Lives of Children."

Walker is a member of the firm's education and employment practice groups.

He focuses his practice on the legal needs confronting educational agencies throughout Pennsylvania, including school districts, intermediate units and career and technology centers.

As a school solicitor, Walker supports educational agencies in all areas of general school law.

He regularly advises school boards and administrators on all facets of public-sector employment law and labor relations.

This experience includes ensuring employer compliance with all applicable federal and state laws.

Walker also assists in collective bargaining with labor unions and guides school boards through the grievance/arbitration process.

He is also a member of the board of directors at the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and a 2014 graduate of the Leadership Lancaster program.
