Gawthrop Greenwood attorney and partner Stephen McDonnell was appointed to serve on Chester County's Business Advisory Council, which will support the Chester County commissioners' COVID-19 Business Task Force.
The commissioners created the task force of local business leaders to help plan for the reopening and restarting of the post-pandemic economy through 2020 and beyond.
The COVID-19 Business Task Force was created to ensure that various business sectors and sizes are involved in planning, reopening and growing the economy safely and promptly.
It is expected to operate as one large unit as well as several independent councils affecting the surrounding region.
As a board member for the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, McDonnell will serve both on the COVID-19 Business Task Force as well as on CCCBI's independent group, all with the goal of guiding business owners through safe revitalization and growth.
McDonnell focuses his law practice on helping corporations and individuals avoid and resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation and/or litigation.
His practice is concentrated in the areas of contract disputes, construction claims, employment issues as well as insurance matters.
He has experience working with large and smaller growing businesses and individuals to address their concerns in the context of the larger local business landscape as well as the public sector.

Melissa Merchant-Calvert of the Whalen Law Offices in Mercer is slated to begin a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association board of governors.
One of 12 PBA zone governors, Merchant-Calvert will represent Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer county lawyers.
Merchant-Calvert became a voting delegate in the PBA House of Delegates, the association's policymaking body, in 2015.
She began serving as the PBA young lawyers division's Zone 10 co-chair in 2016.
Also active in the local organized bar, Merchant-Calvert is the current secretary of the Mercer County Bar Association and served for five years as the chair of the association's young lawyers division.
Merchant Calvert obtained her law degree from the Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law.

Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg announced that Patrick McKnight joined the firm as an associate in its litigation department.
McKnight focuses his Philadelphia-based practice on corporate and complex commercial litigation, employment law and cybersecurity.
McKnight previously completed an externship with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey and worked as a law clerk for a large multinational firm in Philadelphia, conducting legal research and writing focused on construction liability defense.
McKnight earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
