Speakers

Karen Conn Mavros of Main Line Law Associates presented at the National Business Institute's all-day audio webinar on "The Probate Process From Start to Finish."

The course was designed to familiarize estate practitioners with the probate process and provide practical tips and advice.

Mavros lectured on two topics: "Understanding the Role of the Personal Representative in Probate" and "Administering the Estate Effectively."

In her first topic, Mavros addressed the basic duties of the personal representative, misconduct of the personal representative that may warrant removal, and compensation guidelines for attorneys and personal representatives.

In the course of the second topic, she addressed the issues of responding to creditors' claims, insolvent estates, managing the estate's assets, disclaimers and partial distributions to beneficiaries.

Mavros answered attendees' questions regarding estate administration during the shutdown due to the coronavirus and shared her personal experience with virtual probate and meeting deadlines during this time.

As an attorney in the Bryn Mawr office of Main Line Law Associates, Mavros concentrates her practice in trust and estate planning and administration.

She also litigates related issues in Orphans' Court.

She acts as a guardian and court-appointed attorney for incapacitated individuals and minors. Mavros is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

She holds a law degree from the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.

Main Line Law Associates is a boutique law firm located in Bryn Mawr, where its attorneys practice estate and trust work, real estate, and civil litigation.

Announcements

Pond Lehocky Giordano LLP donated more than 150 items of business professional clothing to Families Forward Philadelphia, the city's largest not-for-profit emergency shelter for families and travellers since 1915.

The clothing hails from Pond Lehocky's Client Closet, a "Rent The Runway"-style service that allows law firm clients to try on, select and keep professional outfits for their court appearances at no additional cost.

The Client Closet inventory was filled by staff, partner and vendor donations, and was unused during the stay-at-home order.

Pond Lehocky donated the items to benefit the marginalized community members that Families Forward Philadelphia serves, including those in the Philadelphia region currently experiencing homelessness.
