McNees Wallace & Nurick attorneys Jennifer Will and Devin Chwastyk are slated to present the webinar titled "Chamber LIVE: Road to Reopening (Episode IV)" for the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC on June 17.
Being moderated by David Black, president and CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, Will and Chwastyk will offer guidance on how an organization should operate in Pennsylvania's green phase, best practices for workplaces to keep employees safe, bringing back furloughed employees, and what current liability protections look like.
Will is co-chair of the McNees labor and employment practice group.
Will serves on the firm's political action committee.
She represents public and private sector employers exclusively, providing advice and counseling to management on a range of labor and employment law issues, including wage and hour compliance, collective bargaining, discrimination and harassment.
Will frequently conducts training for clients on such topics as discriminatory harassment, union avoidance, employee discipline and hiring and firing techniques.
She also participates in several speaking engagements each year, having presented continuing legal education sessions through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Chwastyk is chair of the McNees privacy and data security practice group, where he advises clients on how to get ahead of data exposure by developing data security policies, privacy disclosures, breach response plans and associated training programs.
Chwastyk helps clients remedy and report security breach events.
He holds the certified information privacy professional (United States) designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
When he is not working on data security matters, Chwastyk's practice otherwise is focused on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on defending class action lawsuits.
He defends clients from class action claims in areas including civil rights, consumer protection law and employment practices.
He also litigates other commercial cases on behalf of organizations and individuals
Honored
Jessica Rizzo, a 2L at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, was honored at a virtual celebration by Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts as the winner of the organization's writing contest.
The competition challenged law school participants across Pennsylvania to respond to the question, "Should judges be permitted to speak out on their decisions?"
Rizzo's paper laid out her belief "that critical awareness of the law is more important than unthinking respect for it."
In her opinion, "judges should be permitted and even encouraged to speak out on their decisions, within the context of their opinions."
This year's PMC annual Law Student Writing Competition was sponsored by Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath.
Paul Saint-Antoine, a Faegre Drinker partner and a member of PMC's board of advisors, served as one of this year's competition judges.
Rizzo, as well as the other students who submitted papers, made time to research and write on this topic during their school years.
The contest was open to 2L and 3L students at 10 different law schools.
