Lorie Dakessian, partner at Conrad O'Brien and vice chair of the firm's Title IX, due process and campus discipline practice, was set to present as part of a panel presentation in a CLE webinar to the Illinois State Bar Association on "The New Title IX Regulations: A New Era."
The panel covered key aspects of the new Title IX regulations and how the regulations impact students and higher education institutions.
Also joining on the panel were retired Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Jane Cutler Greenspan, who serves as an independent adjudicator, and Debbie Osgood, partner at Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose in Illinois.
Dakessian represents college students and professors nationwide who are under investigation or who were disciplined by their colleges or universities for alleged violations of sexual harassment and misconduct policies following campus disciplinary proceedings, or complainants who raise and pursue sexual assault or harassment claims within universities.
In addition to her representation of college students, Dakessian represents clients in white-collar criminal matters, internal investigations, professional malpractice litigation, and data privacy matters.
She is a certified information privacy professional.
Prior to joining Conrad O'Brien, Dakessian served for six years in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, managing all aspects of large and complex appellate cases.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Hyland Levin Shapiro announced the commencement of its 2020 summer associate program with the hiring of Jenise Rivera and Kaitlin Hackett.
During the summer, notwithstanding the circumstances of practicing law during a global pandemic, Rivera and Hackett will participate in all facets of firm life.
Rivera and Hackett join the firm for the summer from Rutgers Law School where they are rising third year law students.
In addition to serving as staff editors on law review journals at Rutgers, both are involved in the law school community.
Rivera is the president of the Latinx Law Student's Association and secretary of the Rutgers Intellectual Property Law Association.
Hackett is the president of the Health Law Society and a student leader with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

The Philadelphia chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators president, Kathleen Remetta, joined Weir & Partners as executive director.
Remetta joins from Blank Rome, where she was manager of the docketing and managing clerks office.
She graduated from Rowan University, where she studied business administration and management.
