Steven A. Hann of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin participated in a webinar for the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors titled "The Pros and Cons of Selling Municipal Water/Sewer Assets."
During the presentation, Hann provided an overview of privatization issues impacting water and wastewater authorities in Pennsylvania, as well as an update on recent case law and administrative/statutory issues of interest.
Hann is a principal at the Pennsylvania law firm of Hamburg Rubin, where he focuses his practice on environmental and municipal law and chairs the firm's environmental law department.
He represents a client base that includes municipalities, municipal authorities, business entities, individuals, builders and developers, all of which are affected by federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
Hann handles all facets of environmental litigation with government agencies and private parties.
He also advises clients on regulatory and compliance issues, environmental permitting, environmental issues arising in business and real estate transactions, and land use and zoning issues.
Hann provides clients with counseling on legislative and regulatory developments at both the federal and state levels.
In addition to his environmental law practice, Hann has a practice in the area of municipal law, with a specific emphasis on municipal authorities.
Hann is the East Region solicitor for the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, covering the eastern half of Pennsylvania, and interacts regularly with PMAA staff and member authorities on a range of issues related to the management and operation of water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste authorities.
Hann is also a frequent speaker at PMAA conferences, seminars and webinars.
He is a graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law.

FisherBroyles announced that Judge Patrick J. Murphy joined the firm in Philadelphia.
Murphy served as the 32nd U.S. under secretary of the Army and was the first veteran of the Iraq war to be elected to the House of Representatives, representing Pennsylvania's eighth congressional district between 2007 and 2011.
Murphy is the latest partner to join FisherBroyles.
An entrepreneur and general partner at the Stony Lonesome Group, Murphy joins the firm from Dilworth Paxson and focuses his practice on entrepreneurship, innovation and emerging companies.
Additionally, as a commissioner on the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission, he advises C-suite leaders on cybersecurity and data privacy with recent updates to the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
As a former federal and military prosecutor and a former partner at two Am Law 100 firms, Murphy provides counsel on best practices and strategy for contentious situations.
Murphy is a member of several public and private sector boards, including director of BAE Systems Inc., chairman of the Cerner federal board, director of the Adobe federal board, executive chairman of WorkMerk, director of Psych Hub, and director of CTIS.
Murphy currently holds the distinguished chair of innovation at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, was a board member from 2011 to 2016, and also served as assistant professor from 2000 to 2003.
He was a visiting fellow at the University of Chicago in 2015 and served as a guest lecturer at
Harvard University, Stanford University and Princeton University.
He earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth School of Law.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
