Volpe and Koenig, an intellectual property law firm with offices in Philadelphia and Princeton, New Jersey, added attorney Patrick S. Griffin as an associate at the Philadelphia office.
Griffin focuses his practice on strategic invention development consulting.
He has experience in patent application writing and patent prosecution, as well as freedom-to-operate opinions in high-technology fields.
Most recently, Griffin served as counsel at a Washington, D.C., intellectual property firm.
He also worked as a network engineer for a petroleum and petrochemical manufacturer, where he designed enterprise and process control network infrastructures.
Patrick earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School.
Elected and Appointed
Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young announced that Catherine Ward was elevated to chair of the environmental law section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
The environmental law section concentrates on promoting improvement and professionalism in the practice of environmental law while maintaining communication with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
Ward is the co-chair of Stradley Ronon's environmental practice group.
Her practice involves advising industrial clients, developers and municipalities on regulatory compliance and redevelopment projects, identifying funding opportunities and assisting with remediation strategies.
Ward is a member of Stradley Ronon's hiring committee and technology committee.
She also serves as president of the Women's Energy Network of Greater Philadelphia and board chair of the Wynnefield Overbrook Redevelopment Corp., which is affiliated with Saint Joseph's University.
She graduated from Rutgers Law School and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Speakers
Steven A. Hann, a principal at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin was the sole speaker at a national webinar titled "COVID-19 and Municipal Wastewater Utilities."
During the webinar, Hann discussed various issues related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on water and wastewater facilities throughout the United States.
Topics included an overview of facility operations during the pandemic, specific drinking water and wastewater-related issues of interest, new wastewater surveillance case studies, and the Environmental Protection Agency's recent policy addressing enforcement discretion during the pandemic.
Hann focuses his practice on environmental and municipal law and chairs the firm's environmental law department.
Hann is also the East Region solicitor for the Pennsylvania Municipal Authorities Association, covering the eastern half of Pennsylvania, and interacts regularly with PMAA staff and member authorities on a range of issues related to the management and operation of water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste authorities.
Hann is also a frequent speaker at PMAA conferences, seminars and webinars.
He is a graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
