Additions

King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul added attorney Richard J. Shiroff to the law firm, where he will focus his practice in the area of family law.

After working in private practice, Shiroff will serve of counsel with the firm.

Shiroff manages all aspects of divorce proceedings, including alimony, child support, custody arrangements and asset distribution.

He also regularly handles adoptions, paternity actions, domestic violence matters and premarital agreements.

In the 1970s, Shiroff served as an assistant district attorney and assistant public defender in Northampton County.

He is a former solicitor for the Easton zoning board, served on the board of the Twin Rivers

Bank through the 1990s and served as the chair of Northampton County's election commission in 1998.

Shiroff is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Northampton County Bar Association, where he previously served as a member of the board of governors and chair of the family law committee.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Elected and Appointed

Barley Snyder announced that the Pennsylvania Bar Association named partner David J. Freedman to its new COVID-19 task force.

The task force intends to monitor COVID-19 developments as they impact the legal profession and to prepare appropriate responses.

The task force also intends to serve as a resource to address member concerns, to develop programs and to disseminate information, according to the PBA.

Freedman is one of 19 members of the task force, which brings together attorneys from across the state to share their thoughts and advice on how the legal profession can rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Freedman is the president-elect of the board of directors of the Lancaster County Bar Association.

Freedman is a member of Barley Snyder's employment, education and immigration practice groups.

He also is a member of the firm's hospitality and food and agribusiness industry groups.

He represents public and private employers of all types and sizes, including the hospitality industry, in litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.

Freedman counsels employers on issues related to employee discipline, termination, workplace harassment, wage and hour compliance, and compliance with federal and state employment laws.

He also counsels employers and individuals regarding their immigration needs.

Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts approved the newest board member at its recent board meeting: Pamela Gwaltney, deputy director-compliance of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations.

Her term will begin immediately.

She will serve on the policy committee.

Gwaltney is a civil rights compliance professional and litigator.

She directs the compliance division of the oldest municipal civil rights agency in the United States.

Gwaltney previously worked as assistant chief counsel and education attorney for the Pennsylvania Commission on Human Relations and attorney for the Defender Association, where she represented adults and juveniles in Philadelphia's court system.

Gwaltney is a member of the National Bar Association, women lawyers division, a board member of the Broad Street Ministry Braintrust and Mount Saint Joseph Academy.

She received her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
