Technology strips lawyers of collegiality among their peers and can destroy the essence of the legal profession.

I am a young lawyer. What ever happened to collegiality among lawyers?

Samuel C. Stretton. Samuel C. Stretton.

Collegiality between lawyers has been on the decline over the last 10 or so years. The decline has accelerated with the virus problems and everyone embracing technology. Collegiality appears to be becoming an endangered species in the legal profession. Collegiality was one of the most wonderful aspects of practicing law. Getting to know other lawyers and one's opponent was a very enriching process. At least in days of old, one's opponent often became their good friend. Nowadays, of course, during litigation, no one talks to each other and usually opposing motions raise every possible horrible thing about the opposing lawyer. Lawyers rush to Disciplinary Board websites to find dirt to throw out.
