Reveal is an e-discovery company. Recently it purchased NexLP, whose story engine technology and data science team has supplied NexLP with a key digital application: artificial intelligence (AI). The announcements tend to focus on the deal: how Reveal acquired NexLP’s artificial intelligence technology and NexLP’s team, that the two Chicago-based companies will join under the Reveal banner, that NexLP will join Reveal as the company’s new executive vice president of innovation and strategy and all NexLP’s employees who wish to move to Reveal will be able to do so.

What is most interesting here, however, is not the business details of the acquisition, but that Reveal wanted so strongly to acquire NexLP’s AI. The interest in AI is key to the advancement of e-discovery.
