In an apparent issue of first impression, a Montgomery County judge has ruled that a daughter who lived periodically in different relatives’ homes was considered a resident of her parents’ house and thus covered under their car insurance policy.

The court held that Erie Insurance could be held liable for $200,000 in coverage for injuries sustained by Christiana Montesano while traveling from her mother’s home in Florida to her grandparents’ home in Alabama. The policy belonged to Montesano’s father Anthony and her stepmother Donna.
