With a measure introduced in the state General Assembly earlier this week seeking to impeach a Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice over his decisions in politically contentious cases, there are now two high-profile Republican-led efforts pending in the legislature that seek to reshape Pennsylvania’s highest court, which has held a Democratic majority since 2015. However, according to politicos and court watchers, both efforts seem unlikely to succeed.

“They’re certainly long shots,” Christopher Borick, political science professor at Muhlenberg College, said. “It’s hard to see the math there that make these a probable outcome, and so I think they’re still more symbolic than impactful in terms of really making a difference.”
