A judge in Perry County has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced Tuesday.

Magisterial District Judge Michael Schechterly, 58, of Newport in Perry County, was taken into custody following a joint investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police and the Office of Attorney General. Schechterly, who is an attorney, was charged with unlawful contact with children, corruption of minors, and indecent assault.
