A federal judge has denied Nike’s request for sanctions against the plaintiff’s lawyer in a trademark case for sending letters and trial subpoenas to pro sports team trainers who were not parties to the litigation.

U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania held that defendant Lontex’s counsel did not violate protocol by independently contacting potential witnesses outside of the discovery deadline.
