A Scranton lawyer representing defendants in a medical malpractice case has drawn the ire of the judge for coaching a witness off-screen how to answer questions during a video deposition while the camera recorded.

Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas Judge James Gibbons referred Cipriani & Werner attorney Patrick Carey to the state disciplinary board and ordered him to reimburse—out of pocket—all counsel in the case for filings related to his motion to dismiss the lawsuit, which the video deposition was part of.
