Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who has joined the lawsuit, likened Facebook to an illegal monopoly. "This lawsuit is straightforward," he said. "We're alleging that Facebook built a monopoly that, as we speak, is doing all it can to stifle competition[.]"

A broad coalition of attorneys general from across the United States on Wednesday filed an antitrust lawsuit targeting Facebook in Washington, D.C., federal court, accusing the social media giant of anti-competitive conduct, illegally buying up competitors and endangering consumer privacy.
