The city of Philadelphia has agreed to pay $9.8 million to Chester Hollman, who spent 28 years—more than half of his life—behind bars for a murder he did not commit.

At age 21, Hollman was arrested and accused of shooting a University of Pennsylvania student. He was convicted in 1993 of armed robbery and second-degree murder based off of the testimony of two witnesses that was coerced by law enforcement. Last year, at age 49, a judge ordered Hollman's release from prison.
