The Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas' civil section is expected to begin holding jury trials March 1, nearly one year after courtrooms were closed to the public to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. For months, court leadership and top members of the trial bar have worked together to reconfigure courtrooms to maintain social distancing throughout jury selection and trial. The changes include outfitting courtrooms to hold jury selection, moving jurors into courtroom galleries and putting counsel tables in the well. Also plenty of plexiglass and hand sanitizer stations.
