This is the first installment in an ongoing series of Q&A-style interviews The Legal is conducting with Harrisburg’s most influential lawmakers about the current legislative session.

It’s been less than a year since Rep. Bryan Cutler, R-Lancaster, took over as speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives following Rep. Mike Turzai’s departure. An attorney—he’s of counsel to Nikolaus & Hohenadel in Lancaster—Cutler has served in the General Assembly since 2007, and most recently submitted a memorandum seeking to introduce legislation requiring the state and each county to conduct post-election audits “to strengthen election security and integrity, confirm the accuracy of election outcomes, and provide confidence to voters that their votes are being counted accurately.”
