Judges must always reflect on how their appearance is perceived by the public and how a casual appearance can detract from the judicial office.
What clothing should a judicial officer wear under their black robe when they are in court?
There have been previous articles about the informality and casualness of attorney attire. The articles referenced how years ago if some judges saw lawyers on a workday not in a coat and tie and white shirt, or a female not in a professional dress or suit, the judge would oftentimes call the lawyer and criticize them. Those days are gone, but dressing professionally as a lawyer is still a wise practice.
