- On March 22, The Philadelphia Bar Association will host a District Attorney Candidates' Forum, featuring the three candidates who are running for Philadelphia District Attorney. This live Zoom webinar will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Registration will close 60 minutes prior to the event's start time and only registered attendees will receive the webinar ID and password immediately after registration closes. - On March 31, the Philadelphia Bar Association will host a Women in Political Leadership Virtual Discussion, from 4:30-6 p.m., for Philadelphia Bar Association members only. Join us to celebrate Women's History Month, as we welcome Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Pennsylvania House Minority Leader Joanna McClinton and Philadelphia City Councilmember Cherelle Parker who will share their personal journeys to political office, offer guidance to prospective female candidates for office, and discuss how the association can work effectively to advance policies that are important to the legal community. This virtual panel discussion was organized by the women in the profession committee. This live Zoom webinar is free and a benefit for Philadelphia Bar Association members only. - On April 27, Pennsylvania for Modern Courts (PMC) will host the PMC Virtual Spring into Action Benefit, from 5-6:30 p.m. At this event, PMC will present the Judge Justin Johnson Award to Gov. Tom Wolf and former Gov. Tom Corbett, Gov. Ed Rendell and Gov. Mark Schweiker, for their unified bipartisan support of a qualified and independent judiciary. PMC will also present an award to the winner of the 2021 Law Student Writing Competition sponsored by Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath. - On April 28, from 5:30-7 p.m., HIAS Pennsylvania will host its 2021 Golden Door Awards: A Diverse America is a Strong America, highlighting the critical work that elected officials, congregations, and immigrants themselves do to support refugees and immigrants in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This year, HIAS will honor Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon for her outstanding leadership in extending the Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act, and support for the immigrants in the community; the Refugee Access Center at Snyder Church for their continual support of refugees and immigrants in South Philadephia throughout the pandemic and beyond; and Ali Arif and Lara Ali, former HIAS PA clients who have become leaders in their community, working within the Philadelphia School District to make it welcoming to immigrants and refugees. - On April 28, the Support Center for Child Advocates (SCCA) will hold a virtual awards ceremony, at 8 p.m., as part of their spring initiative, Change the Story: A Campaign for Child Advocacy. In the spirit of the SCCA's largest annual development event, this online campaign will highlight the strength of our clients, the efforts of our staff and volunteers, and the impact of our organization as we resume the fundraising for our important work. It will also allow us to continue the tradition of recognizing friends who spend countless hours embracing that commitment to our clients, and who work together with our staff to improve the lives of traumatized children. Michael G. Bongiorno, Andrew Scott Dulberg and Elizabeth E. Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

Amy O. Bruchs and Kurt F. Ellison of Michael Best & Friedrich have entered appearances for Epic Systems Corp. in a pending employment discrimination lawsuit. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
