Opinion deals with the ethical use of Cloud-based storage for law firms.

My law firm is changing from a paper-based firm to one using modern technology and scanning all files on the computer. The files will be stored in the Cloud. Is that ethical?

Clearly, it would be hoped that storing clients' files and other confidential documents in what technology calls the Cloud is ethical since it is apparently a widespread practice. Even the Office of Disciplinary Counsel now scans all files. Younger lawyers are far more able to navigate the files on the computer than lawyers of the generation of this writer who still need to touch and feel the paper.
