The Philadelphia criminal defense attorney who defended former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment, Michael T. van der Veen, has agreed to defend a former Marine from south Florida accused of conspiring with militant groups to disrupt the certification of the Electoral College on Jan. 6.

Van der Veen, founder of Philadelphia-based law firm van der Veen, O’Neill, Hartshorn and Levin, is slated to argue in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of Jason Dolan, according to a June 7 court filing. Prosecutors said Dolan, then 44, traveled from south Florida on Jan. 4 to take part in the breach of the U.S. Capitol.
