One of the hallmarks of Grubman’s practice is his focus on understanding all aspects of his clients’ businesses and related risks, and developing deep and long-term client relationships. A prime example of this ethos is his longstanding representation of NEP Group, Inc., which has remained despite four different private equity sponsors’ ownership of NEP. For more than 12 years, he has represented NEP, playing an integral role in NEP’s global growth strategy and leading NEP’s representation in more than 45 acquisitions in over 20 countries. Similarly, he has represented Shiseido Co. Ltd in numerous strategic acquisitions and divestitures during the last five years, including Shiseido’s recent acquisition of Drunk Elephant for $845 million.

Notably, during the height of the pandemic, General Motors turned to Grubman to lead Jones Day’s representation of GM’s groundbreaking Project V partnership with Ventec Life Systems to manufacture ventilators for the U.S. government. He was responsible for leading and coordinating a multidisciplinary team that worked around the clock for a period of several weeks.
