The legal landscape of 2021 is vastly different than it was at the start of 2020. What’s one of the biggest challenges law firms face today?

In the past year, we learned that a lot of work can be done remotely, and that there are some really big benefits (in addition to being safe) of remote work. For example, it is expensive to fly an associate based in New York to Denver simply to observe a hearing or a deposition for training purposes. But since every meeting has been virtual, it has been easy to have associates sit in on hearings and depositions, and that has been excellent training for them. However, remaining in a remote-work environment post-pandemic would mean a loss of face-to-face interaction, training, and mentorship opportunities that are also vital to associate development. So, one challenge is figuring out how to take the lessons we learned from this past year and apply them moving forward as we return to a new normal.
