Seventy-seven people who have accused a former Long Island pediatrician of sexual abuse sued him in Queens County Supreme Court on Tuesday under the Child Victims Act, alleging that he began abusing patients during his medical training in 1961 and continued to do so for decades.

Attorneys with Saltz Mongeluzzi & Bendesky and Gruenberg Kelly Della represent the former patients, who allege that Stuart M. Copperman abused them while claiming he was providing medical care.
