Philadelphia courts are in for a busy few months as they work through a backlog of civil jury trials that accrued over the course of the pandemic. The courts scheduled 600 such trials for the rest of the year, and so far 10% of those have been tried or settled. But despite the challenges of opening up the courts, attorneys are glad to be back and praise the court’s efforts to get cases moving again.

While in many court systems, cases remain piled up from COVID slowdowns, Philadelphia courts have been steadily moving through their backlogs. And with certain kinds of cases, there aren’t even backlogs to clear.
