The first case to be tried in Philadelphia over talcum powder allegedly linked to ovarian cancer was set to come before a jury early next week, but that is no longer the case after Johnson & Johnson has removed the lawsuit to federal court.

Early on Thursday, Johnson & Johnson, which has been hit with multibillion-dollar verdicts over its talc products, removed the case, captioned Kleiner v. Rite Aid, to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The case had been set for trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas starting Aug. 2.
