Robert Hoopes, a defendant in the bribery and extortion prosecution that took down Bucks County Magisterial District Judge John Waltman, has been disbarred by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's disciplinary board.

The order disbarring Hoopes is also effective in New Jersey. In 2019, Hoopes was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. He is currently incarcerated at FCI Cumberland in Maryland.

The one-page order the disciplinary board issued Friday said the discipline was being imposed after Hoopes "failed to respond to a notice and order directing him to provide reasons against the imposition of reciprocal discipline." He was initially suspended by the disciplinary board more than two years ago.
