Delaware County lawyer Joshua Thomas has accepted a two-year suspension on consent from disciplinary authorities for consistently missing court deadlines and engaging in "meritless" litigation in connection with his representation of a New York-based law firm.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Attorney Disciplinary Board announced the suspension against the 35-year-old Chadds Ford-based lawyer Oct. 1. Thomas' suspension stems from incompetent representation of clients in federal court, in which he was also sanctioned by U.S. District Judge Joshua Wolson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

"The parties believe that their recommendation for a two-year suspension is consistent with disciplinary case law involving a lawyer who lacks competence and engages in meritless litigation," the board said in its petition for discipline.
