Sony Corporation of America and e-cigarette company Voopoo were hit with a product liability lawsuit Thursday in Pennsylvania Middle District Court. The lawsuit was filed by Lopez McHugh LLP on behalf of Justin Derr-Carney, who alleges he suffered serious injuries when the lithium-ion battery in his e-cigarette exploded. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:21-cv-01750, Derr-Carney v. Sony Corporation of America.
