Despite massive, historic death and illness caused by the virus, many employers are unwilling to mandate the vaccine as a job requirement. However, there has been significant movement recently by many of the large national employers to mandate vaccination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released guidance early this year stating that employers could require vaccination for employment, given the public health crisis, so long as accommodations/exceptions were provided for those with qualifying medical conditions and sincerely held religious beliefs.

The anti-vax arguments are entirely without merit and defy common sense. Because of their personal beliefs, be they political, anti-government, anti-medicine or freedom of choice, a certain segment of society will not get the vaccine no matter what. Many unions, while their leaders are all vaccinated and personally support vaccination, will oppose vaccine mandates “because some people don’t want the vaccine.”
