A midstate Pennsylvania judge certified a class action against UPMC in a suit to determine if the hospital can be held liable for the actions of a nurse who covertly recorded over 200 patients.

Judge Carrie Hyams of the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas granted the plaintiffs class status Oct. 29 despite the defendants’ arguments that personal injury cases are too variable to be grouped together.
