There is virtually universal opposition from health and medical professionals on this harmful practice, yet only 20 states have some form of a ban on conversion therapy at all. The federal government has not enacted any nationwide ban on this practice of child endangerment.

Civil RightsIn a much-needed win, a federal judge in Tacoma, Washington denied an attempt to block a bill banning conversion therapy of minors (SB 5722). The measure was signed into law three years ago and bans licensed therapists from trying to change a minor's sexual orientation. This opposition to the law was presented by a nonreligiously affiliated, licensed marriage and family therapist—yet the senior counsel for conservative Christian legal interest group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Roger Brooks, was the attorney that argued the case.
