When Judge Carolyn Carluccio begins her tenure as Montgomery County president judge in January, one of the main challenges will be working through the sizable trial backlog caused by COVID while managing space constraints from a major construction project to build a new justice center and renovate the existing courthouse.

Still, despite the bumpy road ahead, Carluccio—who was unanimously chosen by her colleagues for the leadership post—says she’s excited to begin.
