Pennsylvania’s mandate requiring all students to wear masks during school is void and unenforceable, the state Supreme Court has decided, affirming a lower court’s decision, which last month found that state officials did not have the authority to impose the requirement.

The justices issued a two-page per curiam order Friday afternoon, noting that it was affirming the Commonwealth Court’s decision from last month, which granted the petition from a group of private schools and parents of school-aged children challenging acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam’s August masking requirement.
