In a year that saw neither the beginning nor the end of a once-in-a-century health crisis, the Philadelphia Bar Association was in a unique position to shepherd the city's legal community through tectonic changes and novel questions in the practice of law, outgoing chancellor Lauren McKenna says.

It was in that context, McKenna said, that the bar association's role as the "voice of the legal profession" was fully realized. As courts adopted remote modes of conducting trials, McKenna said the association acted as a "conduit," briefing lawyers on emerging standards for practice and procedure in the commonwealth's judiciary.
