The group of elected officials and businesses who challenged the constitutionality of Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 lockdowns have failed to convince the U.S. Supreme Court that their case was still ripe for review, despite the shutdown measures having expired.

On Monday, the country’s highest court denied the petition for certiorari in Butler County v. Governor of Pennsylvania. The case had been filed against numerous state officials over the stay-at-home order, cap on gathering sizes and business closures that were put in place during the spring of 2020.
