The Biden White House on Wednesday announced another round of judicial nominees including a pick who would be the first Black woman to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and another pick who could become the first Muslim woman to serve as a federal judge in the U.S.

The eight nominees include a range of backgrounds, from public defenders to Big Law and civil rights work. Among them is President Joe Biden’s first pick for the Third Circuit, Arianna Freeman, who would be the first woman of color and the first Black woman appointed to that court.
