Vertex Inc., a provider of tax compliance software, sued rival Avalar Corp. Tuesday in Pennsylvania Eastern District Court for alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. The suit, brought by Latham & Watkins and Blank Rome, accuses Avalara of launching a campaign to poach staff from LCR-Dixon Corp. after learning that the company had agreed to sell its business to Vertex. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 2:22-cv-00315, Vertex, Inc. v. Avalara, Inc. et al.
