A federal judge has slashed the attorney fees to be awarded to the former lead counsel in an investors class action, saying the reduction is meant as a deterrent for conduct that got the firm and its client removed from the case in February 2021.

U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania cut New York City-based Bleichmar Fonti & Auld out of the overall fee calculation when he approved a $16 million award of attorney fees and costs to the lead counsel and co-counsel in the suit, against Endo International. The money amounts to 25% of a settlement that was approved in February.
