Rite Aid and its advertising agencies were hit with a trademark infringement lawsuit Monday in Pennsylvania Eastern District Court over the retailer’s $700 million rebranding. The suit, brought by Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe on behalf of design firm Brand Design Company Inc., contends that Rite Aid’s new logo uses a proprietary font owned by Brand Design. The suit asserts that Burns Group, which designed the Rite Aid logo, licensed the font but is expressly prohibited from using it in a logo. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:22-cv-01174, Brand Design Company, Inc. v. Rite Aid Corporation et al.
