Some of us grew up in environments where community service, volunteering, and extracurriculars were not just applauded, but expected if you wanted to be successful. So, we did exactly that. We joined every "club," every organization, volunteered, and joined initiatives to show admissions teams at universities or eventually, employers, that we do it all. But of course, this intense commitment to "getting involved" was not innate when we entered the world.

We spent the first several years of our education building a foundation for ourselves. As the years progressed and after putting in the effort to succeed as a student, we slowly started to get involved within and outside of school. We had energy. A lot of it. We performed well as students and loved the classroom setting, but we also found fulfillment in what happened beyond the four corners of the classroom. What do we do with that energy once we enter the work force, as associate attorneys, beyond the four corners of our corporate offices?
